Times New Romans

http://blog.conquestgraphics.com/which-fonts-will-work-best-in-print-marketing/

3 Tips about which Fonts will Work Best:

Typeface - Times New Roman, Helvetica, and Arial are the three most popular typefaces for print marketing.  This is the result of a variety of recent research that has shown that these three typefaces are the most successful at attracting and retaining customer attention.  They are classy and contain just enough style to be visually interesting, but are subtle enough that they will not detract from the message.  With print marketing, fonts that will work best need to be easily readable.
Sizing – Did you know that 95% of the population aged 35 years or older requires reading glasses?  You have to keep in mind that different age groups can see different font sizes with ease, or difficulty, depending on your perspective.  A good rule of thumb is to never use a font size smaller than 8 point.  Your company name and headline should be larger, and also bold.   You want to balance being able to fit all of the necessary information in one place without any of the text seeming cramped.  Bigger fonts will work best for most important information that you want the reader to see first.
Colors: You first need to determine whether you want to choose a monochrome color scheme or prefer to use some color.  This decision is based on the tone of your advertising campaign—is it more classic and professional?  Is it fun and flirty?  Restaurants, clubs, and parks generally go for color schemes because they want to come across as warm and inviting.  On the contrary, art museums, car dealerships, and business offices often prefer to use black and white text because it can be seen as more subtly stylish with maturity.
Chris Lewis of Conquest Graphics points out that, “Many graphic artists use a ‘rule of two’ which includes, in part, never using more than two colors of font in one piece of advertising.”  This comes down largely to personal opinion and can be discussed with a graphic artist if you choose to hire one—depending on your level of comfort this may be a good choice.  Make sure that you choose darker colors on a white background to stand out.  Remember, the fonts that will work best are easily readable.

Fonts You can buy fonts or download fonts for free make sure it is ok for commercial use
Sara Fannelli is a great example of nice mix of hand made type and computerised type

Make sure you make use of empty space Plain White can make something look desirable and expensive as can afford space

As people we like to organise things by how we see play around with  the Grid .

How to make things stand out
dont underline
instead change the weight size or angle of the font or even change the font

Align to the left as it is easier to read
 than to the right
or Center

Line spacing make 2.5 bigger than the type face

Business card Design ideas

Pintrest Page : https://uk.pinterest.com/lucymartlew/buisness-card-ideas/

Having looked through the designs I like other than being clever are interactive or really Good Quality Design mixed with process they look bespoke and hand made and are not your average business card from vista print .I prefer designer cards rather than illustrations on a bit of card as i think they are more unique and attractive . However the illustrated ones that caught my eye where apart of a set of business card designs that work well together,  They also are clever and work with the intent of communication on what they are promoting it would be pointless to add a zip to mine just because I can .

What i want out of a Business card I want it to speak and say ' i am cheerful and experimental, I like paint animation and paper cut out and will make it just for you.

Initial Thumbnail sketches :

I like the angular ones wihich creat direction and keep clean and simple i like the colour scheme of yellow blue and orange and having minimal text Lucy Joy illustration  and email and webaddress.
I love the detail and nice affect that theminimal colour and cut out nature gives to the designs.

One thing i need to be careful about is its durableness. Some of the card designs with  internal cuts and folds will be weeker and more likely to break.

designing putting together of final image designing the back to match . Choosing my type face instead of DA fonts.

Choosing who to send to print I was able to test on a sample of a business card printed by Becky lees the ease of cutting and affect on quality adding the hand cut detail had on the paper. I was pleased that there was no coating or laminate that could peal and the card when cut in two had the same quality of finish.

I decided to send of to Moo to be printed using their format of a vector PDF to print .

Being in a Collective
With Georgia and Anna as we are living in the same house and live on Jersey street we have made a Collective Called the Jersey Girls this is an Opportunity for us to create work together and visit Craft fairs together Bounce of each other with our ideas and use each others talents and strong points to help us as individual illustrators . We are currently working on a theme for this collaboration. Sadly Due to lack of time and communication between us on a Theme this has fallen through due to our differences in themes and working styles.

Where am i so far?
My intent
I feel like my aim from this portfolio and promotion  module Is to create a Creative Show case of my experience and range of work .
As i am not aiming at a carer in illustration and more inclined at helping people but with the potential to showcase my work and projects to future employers as an extra skill would be beneficial. As well as having the potential to do freelance work when approached at times. Hope fully by show casing more of my work on online forums and through my own Facebook Page I will get a few freelance Jobs.

I therefore want to show a varied range of work from t shirt designs,Cards to Paper illustrations , to Animation.

Here is the little work i have produced that i am proud of to show and let others see...

Designing of the PostCards.

Buisness Cards:finished adding finishing touches .

Added Detail by hand cutting with Scissors I think this is currently a viable way of creating the business cards as it took just under an hour to cut all 50 as this is an initial sample and I will not be handing out to a large number of future clients i feel this should be enough.
