For me illustration is
a way of portraying the world as a beautiful place, creating
scenes that describe layers of narrative and emotion, in new and unexpected
ways to inspire the observer. I
like my work to be real, about real people and real situations. When drawing
objects I like to know the story behind them.
A power is given to
illustrators to give a representation of what they feel and observe this can be
influential to societies perception and interpretation of the world. I have a
Passion for World issues like poverty and Justice and love experiencing
different cultures and finding the good in all situations. This is usually
through getting to know people and their stories. I need to put my self in
situations where I can find out about peoples stories as a staring point for my
illustrations. I would also like
to get better at portraying these stories through showing emotion in my
drawings by understanding the effects of colour.
Understanding of the
world and cultures are enhanced by various mediums with visual communication
being at the centre of it. I have a growing interest in looking at ways
Illustration can be used through the media to Grow peoples awareness of world
Problems as well as help encourage people to make a difference looking at
animation and design as a way of expressing this.
I enjoy experimenting
with a range of concepts and influences and allowing my imagination to find new
ways of showing and representing an idea through innovative print processes. I relish the opportunity to use a range of medias and have
witnessed how these medias can completely alter the mood, character of a piece.
I appreciate the value of illustration in
helping other people I aim to be helping people through my work in a down to
earth way. Allowing artists to instill their passions in me, like the Great
James Gillray a Political Cartoonist of the 18th century and Sidney
Strube a political cartoonist of the 20th century although I don’t
wish to be a cartoonist the way they approached issues that make an Impact on
people by changing perceptions of situations is amazing.
I still feel like I am
finding a style of my own when drawing And think this will come with confidence
by practice more and more with observational drawing of people in day to day
life.
